DEVEKKO — COMMERCE MIGRATION PLANNING CHECKLIST Version 1.0 | October 24, 2026 https://devekko.sovsrc.ai/services/ecommerce-development Use this to prepare a discovery conversation. It is a planning aid, not a complete migration plan or a promise that every item can be transferred. Keep customer records, payment details, credentials and exports out of this file. 1. DEFINE THE REASON Current platform and store URL: What is difficult for customers or the team today? What must the first release improve? Which workflows must stay available throughout the transition? What can wait until a later release? 2. INVENTORY THE STORE [ ] Product types, variants, bundles and subscription products [ ] Categories, filters, search and product relationships [ ] Images, descriptions, editorial pages and downloadable content [ ] Customer accounts, groups and permissions (describe types, not personal data) [ ] Order history and the team's access requirements [ ] Promotions, gift cards, credits and loyalty arrangements For each item, record: source system / owner / destination / transfer constraint. Do not assume account passwords or payment credentials are portable. 3. MAP THE CONNECTIONS For each connection, record its owner and what happens when it is unavailable. [ ] Payments, refunds and recurring billing [ ] Inventory and product information [ ] Shipping, fulfillment and order status [ ] Tax configuration and reporting requirements for the business to confirm [ ] CRM, support and operational reporting Source of truth for product facts: Source of truth for stock and order state: Who can authorize changes in each system? 4. PRESERVE CUSTOMER PATHS [ ] Inventory existing product, category and editorial URLs [ ] Map each important URL to a relevant new destination [ ] Identify retired products and the intended customer experience [ ] Plan redirects and test representative old links [ ] Review titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, sitemap and internal links [ ] Preserve necessary customer-service and order-tracking paths Owner of content and URL review: 5. WRITE ACCEPTANCE EXAMPLES Use test data in an appropriate test environment. For each example, record expected result / actual result / reviewer / unresolved issue. [ ] Find a product through browsing, search and filters [ ] Select an available variant and check stock behavior [ ] Complete the supported purchase and payment paths [ ] Handle a declined payment or unavailable shipping option [ ] Confirm an order reaches the correct operational system [ ] Review order status, account access and password recovery [ ] Check refunds, subscriptions and discounts where they are in scope [ ] Check mobile, keyboard access and relevant device/browser requirements 6. PLAN THE TRANSITION What changes must stop during the final transfer? How will orders placed near the transition be reconciled? What backup and recovery steps will be tested? Who can approve go-live, pause it or start recovery? What conditions would trigger a pause or rollback? Who will monitor purchases and integrations after release? Who handles customer questions during the transition? 7. SET THE FIRST SCOPE Must-have deliverables: Unresolved provider constraints: Content/data preparation owner: Acceptance reviewer: Operating and support responsibilities: Separate ongoing platform/provider costs from development scope. Agree these details and the schedule in the proposal before work begins. NEXT STEP Bring the questions and gaps to discovery. You do not need to fill every blank.
